OLD STARS TO JOIN REDS IN PRESEASON TOUR

Former Liverpool stars Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Steve McManaman and Daniel Agger are set to join the Reds squad in the post season tour in Australia, according to reports from the Merseyside.

The coach Jurgen Klopp added the ex stars to the team as part of the club’s anniversary celebrations. The four legends would line up with the rest of the 21 first team players when they play Sydney FC on Wednesday.

Gerrard ‘captain fantastic’ retired from the game last year after his MLS season with LA Galaxy. Carragher has been out since 2013 while McManaman left Manchester City over a decade ago. Agger left the Kop as he moved back to Denmark his native but he soon retired.

After ten years, Brazilian Lucas Leiva would end his Liverpool stay. The trip would be a farewell as he is set to leave this summer. His compatriots Philippe Coutinho and German Emre Can would not be on the trip as they have international commitments. Brazil is set to play Australia and Argentina in friendly games and Coutinho has been named. Can would play in the Confederations Cup after his coach Joachim Low named him.

Liverpool are in high spirits after getting the Champions League spot ahead of Arsenal. They are set to depart England on Monday for the game slated for the ANZ Stadium.

Daniel Sturridge is on the trip but skipper Jordan Henderson would miss out as he continues his recovery. He is expected to rejoin the team for pre-season fixtures.
